Counselling + Psychotherapy for individuals and couples.
Counselling + Psychotherapy for individuals and couples.
Hi, I’m Katie. I am a registered social worker (MSW) with the OCSWSSW dedicated to creating a space where you feel truly seen, heard, and understood. My approach is deeply rooted in emotion-focused therapy, helping individuals and couples navigate life’s challenges by exploring the emotions that shape their experiences, relationships, and sense of self.
I know firsthand how overwhelming it can be to feel stuck in patterns of pain, disconnection, or self-doubt. My own lived experiences with trauma have shaped not only my understanding but also my deep belief in the power of healing. I approach therapy with warmth, compassion, and a genuine desire to help you move toward the change you’re seeking—at a pace that feels right for you.
I’m also newly trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) and incredibly passionate about its potential to help people process and heal from trauma in a meaningful way. Whether you’re struggling with past wounds, navigating loss, or feeling disconnected from yourself or others, I’m here to help you reconnect—with your emotions, your resilience, and the life you want to create.
If you’re looking for a therapist who values emotional depth, authenticity, and a safe, supportive space for growth, I’d love to walk alongside you in this journey.
On December 26, 2014, I experienced a sudden and profound loss: my mother passed away. This event shook me to my core and left me grappling with grief for many years. Losing a parent altered my perspective on life—past, present, and future. Strangely, since my mother's passing, dragonflies seem to cross my path with remarkable frequency. It may sound peculiar, but they truly do follow me!
In one instance, while I sat on a beach chair by the lake, a dragonfly landed on my shoulder, lingering there for nearly five minutes. My best friend, equally astonished, captured the moment in a photo. Another instance was during my last year of university, on the first day of my placement, I sat alone on a bench, reflecting on my journey with a mix of emotions—gratitude, pride, and empowerment. Once again, a dragonfly appeared, joining me for a silent companionship that lasted a few minutes.
While I cannot definitively prove that my mother is sending me messages through these encounters, in those fleeting moments, that's how it feels. It's a blend of beauty, sorrow, and hope. I believe these are her way of connecting with me, expressing her love, and conveying her pride.
So, this is the essence of the dragonfly symbol for me—where magic and healing intertwine. As I move through my counselling career, I aspire to carry forward this sense of connection, comfort, and hope, fostering healing and growth for those who seek it.
